Route Planner 2026: The Rules of Every Country You Cross

An ordinary planner tells you the distance; this one tells you what each border changes. Enter a start and a destination, the route is calculated from OpenStreetMap road data through OSRM, and every country along the line is listed with its speed limits, the equipment it makes compulsory — warning triangle, reflective vest and the rest — its tyre rules and whether a vignette is needed. That last item is the one to act on early, because the countries that sell stickers expect you to have bought one before the first motorway, not at the first barrier.

How to Use the Route Planner

The TyreMap Route Planner helps you prepare for international road trips by showing you the driving rules for every country you’ll pass through.

Plan Your Journey

  1. Enter your starting point — type a city or address
  2. Enter your destination — where you want to drive to
  3. Click “Plan Route” — the route is calculated and displayed on the map
  4. Review country information — see driving rules, speed limits, and requirements for each country along your route

What Makes This Different?

Unlike standard route planners, TyreMap focuses on the legal requirements for each country you’ll drive through. This includes mandatory equipment (warning triangles, reflective vests), speed limits, tyre requirements, and toll information — essential knowledge for cross-border driving.

Tips for International Driving

  • Check equipment requirements before departure — each country has different mandatory items
  • Buy vignettes in advance for countries that require them (Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, etc.)
  • Carry your International Driving Permit alongside your national licence
  • Note emergency numbers — they vary between countries (112 works across the EU)
