Greek motorways price a motorhome by its height. Anything over 2.20 m with two or three axles is toll category 3, and on the Olympia Odos from 1 January 2026 that means EUR 6.30 at Elefsina where a car pays EUR 2.50. Speed limits follow mass: a car runs 130 km/h on motorways and, since 1 January 2026, 30 km/h on most streets in town; a motorhome over 3,500 kg is held to 80 km/h on motorways and open roads.

Wild Camping and Overnight Parking

Plan on licensed campsites. Whether an overnight stop outside one is tolerated is a local decision, and the signs at beaches, harbours and archaeological sites are the guide. Few official motorhome service areas exist, so campsites are also where the tanks get emptied.

Ferries and Island Roads

Ferries charge by vehicle length and height, and summer sailings to the popular islands fill early. Island roads can be narrow and steep; a long motorhome needs a route check before it commits to a mountain village.

Frequently Asked Questions

Greek concession motorways classify by height, not by weight. Category 2 is any vehicle up to 2.20 m tall, category 3 is a vehicle with two or three axles taller than 2.20 m, category 4 has four or more axles. Almost every motorhome is over 2.20 m, so it pays category 3: at the Elefsina barrier on the Olympia Odos that is EUR 6.30 against EUR 2.50 for a car, at Isthmos EUR 5.40 against EUR 2.10 (rates from 1 January 2026).
