Wrocław — The Short Version
The city set out what happened after the monitoring report landed: with the annual nitrogen dioxide limit no longer exceeded, the obligation that had driven the whole exercise ceased to apply, and the preparatory work was suspended. Consultation had already run through three stages, drawing hundreds of participants and around 1,400 written submissions, but consultation is not adoption.

There is no boundary marked, so there is nothing to accidentally cross. Poland uses road signs D54 and D55 to mark a clean transport zone; you will not meet them in Wrocław. Nor is there a badge to buy — the Polish system works from the vehicle register and applies only where a zone exists.

A diesel from the 2000s is as welcome in central Wrocław as a new electric car. Rental fleets need no special specification for this city, and no hire desk should be charging a “zone compliance” supplement for it.

Kraków’s zone has applied since 1 January 2026, Katowice’s since 29 June 2026, and Warsaw operates one as well. Those three carry genuine thresholds and penalties, so a long Polish itinerary still needs checking city by city — just not here.
