Six electronic gates went live in the historic centre from 6 August 2024, after a 30-day trial period, reading the plate of every vehicle that passes. Access is decided by whether you are authorised — not by what your car emits.

- Vehicles carrying people with limited or impaired mobility, badge displayed
- Owners and tenants of garages or private accesses inside the zone holding a lawful passo carrabile

If you are staying inside the zone
There is no hotel plate-registration scheme here. The comune itself authorises access for non-residents, including one-off bookings, by telephone on 0873 309497 or 0873 69090. Call before you arrive rather than after the gate has read you.
Which streets are inside
The ZTL covers Via Lago, Via San Pietro, Piazza del Popolo, Via Barbarotta, Via del Forno Rosso, Via Vescovado, Largo del Carmine, Via Pampani, Vico Sinello, part of Piazza Caprioli, Via Valerico Laccetti and Via Buonconsiglio, among others.

Loading and unloading is allowed with a stop of no more than 30 minutes, with the relevant badge shown on the windscreen.
