Ravenna’s winter emission rule
The restriction is regional, not municipal. Every built-up area in the Emilia-Romagna plain applies the same structural limits through the cold season: no diesel of Euro 4 or older, no petrol of Euro 2 or older, no bi-fuel LPG or methane vehicle of Euro 2 or older, and no moped or motorcycle of Euro 2 or older, Monday to Friday between 08:30 and 18:30.
Read the other way round, which is the way that matters at the wheel: a diesel needs Euro 5, a petrol car needs Euro 3.

The two ways it gets stricter
Ecological Sundays. Ravenna is above 30,000 inhabitants, so on the scheduled car-free Sundays the ban climbs to diesel Euro 5 as well — a Euro 6 diesel is then the minimum.
Smog alerts. When the regional bulletin forecasts a PM10 exceedance, Euro 5 diesel is stopped on ordinary days too, and the window widens to 08:00-19:00. The bulletin is published every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
And the days it does not apply
The limits are suspended on days when a public transport strike affects the comune.
Move-In, if you live with the ban
Drivers with a non-compliant vehicle can fit the regional Move-In black box, which trades the ban for an annual mileage allowance. It does not cover ecological Sundays or smog-alert days.
