Pontevedra pedestrianised its historic centre back in 1999 and later secured a legal exception instead of adopting a ZBE — no DGT environmental label is required and no fine applies.

What that means in practice: all vehicles can enter the wider city on the same terms, there is no DGT environmental label check tied to a low emission zone, no restricted hours, and no ZBE fine. The old pedestrian core is still closed to through-traffic as it has been for years, but that is the historic town-centre traffic plan, not an emission-based zone. If a national rule ever changes and Pontevedra does enact a ZBE, we will update this page.
