Palencia’s Zona de Bajas Emisiones has been switched on since 1 July 2026, but switched on and enforced are different things here: the sanction regime does not start until 31 July 2027 (Zona de Bajas Emisiones — Palencia). For the whole of that run-in year the cameras can watch without costing you anything — no environmental label is checked and no penalty can be issued. Palencia ZBE — Zona de Bajas Emisiones
Palencia has drawn its low-emission zone around the centre, bounded by Avenida Castilla, Simón Nieto, Casado del Alisal, Manuel Rivera and the Paseo del Salón. The scheme entered service on 1 July 2026 in a trial mode that deliberately carries no penalty, so that residents and businesses can adapt before the sanction regime arrives a year later.
Who Can Enter?
Every vehicle, for now. No Euro class or DGT label decides access during the trial, and no permit is needed to reach an address inside the perimeter.
Sticker / Permit
Nothing is checked today. When sanctions begin, the scheme will work off the DGT environmental label like the rest of Spain’s zones — worth sorting out in advance if you expect to return after July 2027.
Operating Hours
No enforced window exists during the trial. Any access timetable becomes meaningful only once the sanction regime starts.
Fines
None until 31 July 2027. Figures quoted for Palencia elsewhere describe what the ordinance will allow after that date, not what a driver can be charged now.
