Oviedo chose, in the council’s own words, the least restrictive way of meeting Spain’s climate law: the zone affects only category A vehicles — those with no DGT label, meaning petrol cars registered before 2000 and diesels before 2006. Why your B label is safe here
Oviedo has not copied the Madrid or Barcelona model of squeezing successive label classes out of the centre. Labels 0, ECO, C and B all have free access to both rings, and the council states that free circulation can only be interrupted by a temporary protocol during a high-pollution episode. For a visitor driving a car built this century, that means no permit, no fee and no timetable to remember.
Do not bother with the windscreen sticker
The council is explicit that its ordinance does not oblige owners to keep the label on the glass — it only recommends it — because identification is done directly by plate recognition. If you want to know your own category before you travel, the DGT lets you check it by registration number.
