Dundee Emission Zone
The council introduced the scheme on 30 May 2022 and attached a two-year grace period to it, applying equally to residents and visitors, so the cameras only began generating penalties on 30 May 2024. The zone operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year.
Who can enter?

- Diesel cars and vans: Euro 6 or newer — generally registered from September 2015

The boundary
Everything inside the A991 inner ring road, except three car parks that were deliberately left out: Bell Street, the West Marketgait NCP and the Wellgate. That means the High Street, Murraygate, Reform Street, Commercial Street, Castle Street, Crichton Street, Cowgate and the Nethergate between West Marketgait and Crichton Street all sit inside. There is nothing to pay in advance
No sticker, no permit, no daily charge — and no way to buy entry for a non-compliant car. The only routes in are a compliant vehicle or an exemption. Dundee can also grant time-limited exemptions of up to a year to particular vehicles, renewable only by reapplying.
Fines
£60 for the first breach, reduced by half to £30 if paid within 14 days. Each further breach in the same zone inside 90 days doubles the amount, to a ceiling of £480 for cars and light goods vehicles and £960 for minibuses, buses, coaches and HGVs. The rate resets to £60 once 90 days pass without a penalty, and only one notice can be issued per zone per day.

No. Motorbikes, mopeds and fully electric vehicles are outside the rules. Hybrids are inside them and are judged as petrol or diesel vehicles, so a petrol hybrid still has to be Euro 4.
