Arles has no low-emission zone. The government register of effective ZFEs lists 25 of them and Arles is not one, so no Crit'Air sticker, timetable or ZFE fine applies in the town.
Arles is not part of the Métropole Aix-Marseille-Provence; it belongs to the Arles Crau Camargue Montagnette agglomeration. The nearest ZFE is the metropole's zone in central Marseille, roughly 90 km down the road. Nothing in Arles itself is gated by Crit'Air.
Didn’t France abolish its low-emission zones?
No — the repeal never took effect. Parliament did vote in April 2026 to abolish France’s ZFEs, which is why so many guides and news reports say they are gone. The Conseil constitutionnel struck that article down on 21 May 2026 (décision n° 2026-903 DC), so the ZFE provisions of the code général des collectivités territoriales (articles L. 2213-4-1 and L. 2213-4-2) stayed on the books.
One caveat most coverage misses: the article was annulled on procedure, not on its merits — the Council held it was a “cavalier législatif”, an amendment with no link to the bill it was attached to (Constitution, art. 45). Parliament can pass the same repeal again in a properly related bill, so this is settled for now rather than settled for good. Read the decision.

There is no Zone à Faibles Émissions in Arles. Why so many sites list an “Arles ZFE”
Arles is a commune of the Métropole Aix-Marseille-Provence, and aggregator sites tend to copy a metropolitan ZFE down to every commune inside the metropole. The metropole’s own page describes its ZFE-m as applying to the centre of Marseille, phased in since September 2022 and running 7 days a week, 24 hours a day (ampmetropole.fr). Arles is about 90 km from that perimeter. Driving into Arles is not driving into the Marseille ZFE.
What a Crit’Air sticker is still good for
Nothing compels you to buy one for Arles, but the vignette is cheap and national. If your route continues to Marseille, Nice, Montpellier, Nîmes, Toulouse, Lyon or Paris, the same sticker covers all of them, and it also covers circulation différenciée — the temporary, prefecture-ordered restriction that can be imposed anywhere in France during a pollution episode, including in the Bouches-du-Rhône. The old town inside the boulevards is a different problem from emissions: narrow Roman-era streets, one-way loops, pedestrian sections around the Arènes and Place du Forum, and paid surface parking. None of it depends on your engine. Park on the ring — Parking des Lices and the riverside lots are the usual choices — and walk in.
If you get a French fine anyway
A penalty arriving from France after a trip through Arles is far more likely to be a speed-camera or parking notice than anything to do with emissions. Check what the notice actually cites before paying: a ZFE penalty issued for Arles would be an error, because no ZFE exists there to breach.
