Angers Emission Zone
Angers joined the French ZFE map on 1 January 2025, and the version it chose is the mildest one available. The national consolidated ZFE database run by the Point d’Accès National aux données de transport records a single Angers perimeter with the value NC in every vehicle column — private cars, light commercial vehicles, lorries and two-wheelers — meaning the ban applies to unclassified vehicles only.

The perimeter
The ZFE is the communal territory of the city of Angers. Three carve-outs matter to a visitor: the roads serving the park-and-ride sites, the railway-station parking, and the marché d’intérêt national. The metropole’s stated reason is that a driver should still be able to leave the car and continue by public transport.
Sticker & Registration
A Crit’Air vignette costs EUR 5.11 including postage at certificat-air.gouv.fr. Allow around three weeks for delivery abroad; there is no express option and no border kiosk selling them. The sticker is what a patrol reads — without one, a compliant car has nothing to show.

If your car is pre-1997
Park at a P+R on the edge of the city and take the tram in. Angers runs two tram lines through the centre, and the park-and-ride approach roads were deliberately left outside the zone so that this works.
Getting a fine as a foreign driver
A notice can reach your home address, and a rental company will pass the charge to the card on file plus an admin fee. The EU’s cross-border enforcement system (Directive 2015/413) does not help the authorities here: it covers eight road-safety offences — speeding, red lights, drink-driving and the like — and emission-zone rules are not among them. The 2024 update, applicable from 20 July 2027, adds access restrictions only where they exist for road safety, such as pedestrian and school zones.
