Alcorcón, one of the big towns ringing southern Madrid, is set up to run a ZBE (Zona de Bajas Emisiones) as required for Spanish cities above 50,000 people. Contrary to what earlier listings claimed, the zone was not in force from 2023. The town council (Pleno) only approved it on 28 May 2026, so it is a recent decision rather than a long-standing, camera-enforced rule.
For everyday drivers the important point is this: the scheme does not put up a Euro-class barrier for passenger cars. Cars of any Euro standard are not restricted from entering on that basis. If any access limits apply, they fall on the vehicle categories the town singles out rather than on ordinary private cars.
