The Concello’s own ZBE site still presents it as a project being drafted around four proposed areas, so no perimeter is signposted, no DGT environmental label is checked and no fine applies to any car today. Park in a garage near the Casco Vello and walk the steep streets, and leave the islands to the ferry: the protected Cíes, with the white sand of Praia de Rodas, sail from Vigo’s harbour in season.

Park, walk the steep port city
Park in an underground garage near the centre or the port and walk: the old town (Casco Vello), the oyster street and the views from O Castro. No emission label is needed in Vigo, but A Coruña, Madrid and Barcelona run zones of their own, so check them if your route continues. Spain’s urban limits are 30 km/h on streets with one lane in each direction, 50 km/h on streets with two or more, and 20 km/h on shared-surface streets. The alcohol limit is 0.05%, or 0.03% for drivers in their first two years.
The Cíes Islands and the Rías Baixas
Leave the car and take the ferry to the Cíes Islands; a free access authorisation from the Xunta de Galicia is required before you buy the ticket. Keep the car for the Rías Baixas, the Albariño wine country and Santiago de Compostela.
