Park once — or skip the car
The central ZTL plus scarce, pricey parking make driving in rarely worth it. Use a garage or your hotel’s parking and walk the compact centre. Italy’s limits apply: 50 km/h urban, 0.05% alcohol (zero in the first three years).
The bay is yours by train and boat
The Circumvesuviana railway runs to Pompeii and Naples; ferries from the marina serve Capri and, in season, the Amalfi towns. The SITA bus handles the coast road — far better than driving its narrow, bus-choked bends yourself.

Ferries and hydrofoils from Sorrento's marina serve Capri and, in season, the Amalfi towns. None of these needs a car — and given the parking and the narrow roads, the trains and boats are the relaxed way to do it all.
Use a paid garage rather than hunting for a street space — central parking is scarce, expensive and often restricted by the ZTL. If your hotel offers parking, that's usually the best option. Once parked, Sorrento's compact centre, the marinas and the station are all walkable, and the trains and ferries take over for the wider area.
