It's one of France's most popular theme parks, a big family draw, and it has its own car parks and even hotels on site, separate from the city. You drive there from Poitiers or the motorway; it's well signposted.
Use a central garage or a park-and-ride and walk into the hilltop old town. The historic centre around Notre-Dame-la-Grande, the cathedral and the old university is compact and largely walkable. Parking once and walking avoids the ZFE and the city-centre traffic. For Futuroscope, use the park's own parking to the north rather than the city centre.
Not for the city — the compact old town is walkable, and Poitiers is on the fast TGV line from Paris. A car helps for Futuroscope just outside, and for exploring the surrounding Poitou region — the marshes of the Marais Poitevin (the 'Green Venice'), the countryside and the Romanesque churches of the area — driven from a central garage rather than used in the ZFE-bound centre.
