No low-emission zone is in force in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, so no DGT label or emission fine applies. Spanish law still makes the city plan one; check again before future trips.
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has no low-emission zone in force: the council publishes no perimeter, label rule or penalty, so a hire car picked up at the airport can drive into the centre without a DGT sticker. Spanish law does require the city to plan a zone, so it is worth a fresh check before future trips. Park once near the reef-sheltered Playa de las Canteras or the old quarter of Vegueta and walk.

In town
Spain’s Law 7/2021 obliges towns of more than 50,000 people to set up low-emission zones, and that is why Las Palmas appears on ZBE lists, but no restriction applies yet. The usual town rules do: 50 km/h on streets with two or more lanes each way, 30 on single-lane streets and 20 on shared-surface streets. The alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l, or 0.3 g/l in the first two years of a licence. Park in a garage and walk between Las Canteras, Triana and Vegueta.
When the car helps
Keep it for the island: the mountain interior around Roque Nublo, the Maspalomas dunes and the coast villages.
