Gdynia has no clean transport zone. Polish law needs a council resolution and boundary signs before one can apply, and Gdynia has neither, so every vehicle may enter.
Some listings still put a clean transport zone on Gdynia’s map, but the city council has never adopted one, and under Polish law nothing restricts a car until that resolution exists and boundary signs go up. Drive in with any vehicle. What to plan around instead is the city’s paid parking zone in the centre, close to the quay where the Dar Pomorza, a three-masted sailing ship built in 1909, lies as a museum.

A waterfront on foot
From the paid zone it is a short walk to the Pomorskie Quay and the Dar Pomorza, which trained Polish cadets from the 1930s to the 1980s. Inland of the quay, the Gdynia Modernist Trail runs through the centre’s interwar buildings, from the town houses on Świętojańska Street and Skwer Kościuszki to the court on Plac Konstytucji.

Car or train
The SKM suburban trains connect Gdynia with Sopot and Gdańsk, which spares you parking twice more. Keep the car for the Hel Peninsula and the Kashubian lakes.
