Park in a garage or park-and-ride and walk or take the tram to the Krämerbrücke, the cathedral hill and the market squares. Germany’s limits: 50 km/h urban, 0.05% alcohol (zero under 21 or first two years).

The Krämerbrücke (Merchants' Bridge) is Erfurt's most famous sight, a medieval stone bridge spanning the river Gera that is completely built over with timber-framed houses and shops on both sides, so that crossing it feels like walking down a narrow medieval street rather than over a bridge.
