Delft 2026: No Car Zone, Free Weekend Parking at TU Delft

A private car is restricted by neither of Delft's zones: the milieuzone covers lorries over 3,500 kg and the centre's zero-emission zone covers vans and lorries. No sticker exists.
Locally the zone is called Milieuzone Delft (Netherlands) — that is the wording on the boundary signs, on the official portal and on any penalty notice, so it is the phrase to search for once you are there.

Delft has two access rules on its map and a private car falls under neither. The milieuzone south-east of the old centre is for lorries over 3,500 kg; the binnenstad has been a zero-emission zone for vans and lorries since 1 January 2025. Drive a car in, and the only thing to think about is where to leave it, which at weekends can cost nothing.

The two zones, briefly
- Milieuzone: lorries over 3,500 kg, Euro 6 diesel or a non-diesel fuel; non-compliant lorries can buy a EUR 30.30 day or EUR 144.70 long-term exemption (2026).
- Zero-emission zone: the binnenstad, vans and lorries (N1-N3), camera-enforced since 1 January 2025. A hired van counts.
- Cars: not restricted, no sticker, nothing to register.
Parking: the weekend TU Delft trick
- Free at weekends on TU Delft car parks P1 and P2.
- Bus 69 to the centre in about five minutes; four buses an hour on Saturdays 10:00-18:00.
- Shared bikes at both car parks for the last stretch.
Dutch basics: 50 km/h in built-up areas, 0.05% alcohol (0.02% for novice drivers), and give way to the cyclists who own the canal streets.

Den Haag, about 8 km away, is one of the four Dutch cities with a diesel-car milieuzone; Rotterdam has none for cars.

Since 1 January 2025 the binnenstad has also been a zero-emission zone for vans and lorries. Neither rule applies to a passenger car, and the Netherlands has no windscreen sticker at all.
They are the 2026 prices of the day exemption and the long-term exemption for lorries that do not meet the milieuzone rule. They have nothing to do with cars; a car driver has nothing to buy.
At weekends the municipality lets visitors park free on TU Delft's car parks P1 and P2. Bus 69 runs from there to the centre in about five minutes, four times an hour on Saturdays between 10:00 and 18:00, and shared bikes are available at both car parks.
Rarely. The canal centre is small enough to walk, and Den Haag and Rotterdam are a short train ride away. Den Haag, about 8 km off, runs a car milieuzone for diesels, so check your emission class before driving on there.
