Chianciano Terme is really two places. Down below is the spa town of hotels, parks and bathing halls; up on the hill is the medieval centro storico, and that is where the ZTL sits. Entry is decided by permit, not by your car’s Euro class, and a display at the gate shows red “ZTL attiva” when the restriction applies and green when it does not. Pass a red sign without authorisation and the fine is EUR 83-332.

Park in the spa town, walk up to the village
Hotel, spa and public car parks are in the lower town, outside the zone. For the old village, park outside the gate and walk in. Since 14 December 2024 several passes through the same zone on one day count as one violation, but that is no reason to test the gate. Italy’s limits: 50 km/h in town and 0.5 g/l alcohol, zero for drivers under 21 and in their first three years.

Access depends on a permit or an authorised category such as residency, never on your car's Euro class.
