Can your car enter Albacete?
Albacete, the La Mancha capital known across Spain for its cutlery and its September fair, approved a Zona de Bajas Emisiones ordinance in June 2026, but it is not in force. No DGT environmental label is checked and no fine applies to any car entering the centre, foreign plates included. Spain’s climate law obliges towns of more than 50,000 people to set up low-emission zones, so expect rules here eventually.

Drive in, park and walk
With no zone enforced, the only rules are the ordinary Spanish ones. In towns the limit is 50 km/h on streets with two or more lanes each way, 30 km/h on streets with one lane each way and 20 km/h on single-level shared streets. The alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l in blood, or 0.3 g/l for drivers in their first two years. Park in a central car park and walk to the cutlery museum, the cathedral and the parks.
When the car helps
Keep it for the province: the Sierra del Segura, the Lagunas de Ruidera and the windmill country of La Mancha.

The Feria de Albacete, held every September, is one of the best-known fairs in Spain, with concerts, bullfights and food stalls. It centres on the Recinto Ferial, a distinctive circular fairground near the centre.
Use a central car park and walk. The centre around the cathedral, the main shopping streets and the cutlery museum is flat and compact, so the car is more useful for trips out of town than for getting around inside it.
Not for the city itself, which is walkable and on the high-speed rail line from Madrid towards Valencia and Alicante. A car helps for the province: the Sierra del Segura, the Lagunas de Ruidera and the windmill country of La Mancha.
