The motorway e-vignette catches first-timers
Slovak motorways are tolled electronically. There is no booth and no windscreen sticker: you register your number plate against an e-vignette (diaľničná známka) online or at a fuel station near the border before joining the motorway. Cameras check plates, so an unpaid vignette becomes a fine. If you are renting, ask whether it is already included.
Speeds, alcohol and required kit
Limits are 50 km/h urban, 90 rural, 130 on motorways. The drink-drive limit is an absolute 0.0 — which, helpfully, matches the zero-tolerance approach you already follow at home.
