For a Polish driver, Singapore demands two changes at once: which side you drive on, and how fast you are allowed to go. Neither is hard once you expect it, and the city’s roads are otherwise some of the best-organised you will use anywhere.

Your Polish licence is accepted for a tourist stay, and an International Driving Permit is recommended alongside it. At home and across the EU your licence travels on its own; Singapore is outside that arrangement, so the IDP is the low-cost standard translation that keeps rental and police interactions simple. The first adjustment is the side of the road. Singapore drives on the left, the mirror of Poland. The risky moments are predictable — leaving a car park, merging into traffic, or a roundabout that now flows the other way — and they bunch into your first hour. Collect the car somewhere quiet, keep the pace gentle, and consciously check the mirror that has moved to your other side until the new pattern feels normal.

On alcohol, the legal figure is 0.08 BAC, far above Poland’s strict 0.02 — but do not treat it as room to drink. Singapore punishes drink-driving with severe penalties, jail included, so the safe rule stays at zero. Fuel is expensive at roughly EUR 1.98 a litre, and the emergency number is 999.
