The side switch is the driving hazard
India drives on the left; Eritrea drives on the right. Take your first hour somewhere quiet rather than central Asmara, and stay deliberate at every junction until right-side driving stops feeling backwards.

Posted limits are 50 km/h in town, 80 km/h rural and 100 km/h on the faster roads, with a 0.04 drink-drive limit — treat that as effectively no alcohol.
