Can a Swiss driver legally drive in Egypt? Yes — but the Swiss licence does not stand alone here. Egypt requires an International Driving Permit (IDP) carried with it, and that document is the difference between collecting your hire car and being turned away.

The IDP is non-negotiable

Your Swiss licence is recognised across Europe on its own, but not in Egypt.
