As an Australian external territory, Christmas Island accepts a valid Indian licence carried with an International Driving Permit. India drives on the left, and so does Christmas Island under Australian rules. The island’s one famous hazard: red crabs

The thing that actually defines driving here is wildlife. Rangers post closures and divert traffic; follow the signs without exception. Outside the migration, expect steep, narrow coastal roads, the national park, and short distances throughout.
