Can you drive there on an Indian licence?

The one change that actually matters: the side switch

India drives on the left; Belize drives on the right. This is the single thing most likely to catch an Indian driver out, and almost always in the first hour — pulling out of a fuel station, taking a roundabout that now flows clockwise, or glancing the wrong way at a give-way. Collect the car, and spend your first stretch on a quiet road rather than central Belize City. Be deliberate at every junction until “keep right” stops feeling like a decision.

Roads, fuel and the honest gaps

Belize has no motorway network in the European sense; the four main highways (Northern, Western, Hummingbird, Southern) are mostly single carriageway, and away from them surfaces turn to gravel and patchy tarmac. Posted limits are not consistently signed, so drive to the road and the conditions, not to a number you half-remember. Fuel runs around $1.32 a litre — fill up in the towns, because pumps thin out fast in the south and along the cayes’ feeder roads.
