Moroccan autoroutes are limited to 120 km/h. The fines come in three fixed steps, 300, 500 and 700 dirhams, and at 50 km/h over the limit the offence stops being a ticket and becomes a délit for the courts.

The posted sign is what counts, and NARSA stresses that speed also has to be adapted to the weather and to the driver’s own condition. On a trip that mixes autoroute and national road, the drop from 120 to 80 is the one that catches people, because the older roads look fast.

On an autoroute that puts the thresholds at 140, 150 and 170 km/h: everything up to 169 is a fixed fine of at most 700 dirhams, and 170 km/h or more is a criminal case.
